SHELLENG: IT IS TIME TO REPLACE HONORABLE KOBIS ARI TIMNU WITH ALHAJI AHMADU YOOLA, SARDAUNAN KIRI

By Adamu Hamza Marree Talum

The call from the youth of Shelleng for Alhaji Ahmadu Yoola, Sardaunan Kiri, to contest against Honorable Kobis Ari Timnu is a significant one. This movement should be warmly embraced by both the people of Shelleng and Guyuk. It is a call that aligns with the collective goal of advancing politics for development and prosperity.

The era of voting strictly along party lines is over. What matters now is electing the right person, not just the party, and I am confident that the people of Shelleng have found the right candidate in Sardaunan Kiri—especially at this critical time when we are lagging behind in various aspects of development within our constituency.

Sardaunan Kiri is a well-known figure in Shelleng, not because of any prior political ambitions, but due to his longstanding contributions to humanity within the Shelleng Local Government and beyond. He is a career civil servant who recently retired from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Despite his retirement, the people of Shelleng have urged him to continue serving, as he is seen as the only person capable of leading the constituency out of its current challenges.

For too long, Shelleng has experienced biased political representation, particularly from those hailing from the other half of the constituency. Honorable Kobis Ari Timnu, for example, has prioritized large-scale projects in Guyuk, while Shelleng has seen little to no comparable development. This is despite his claim that he secured 60% of his votes from Shelleng during his celebration of his political victory. It is unacceptable for those who significantly contributed to his success to be neglected, while those who gave only 40% of their votes are prioritized. This reeks of tribalism and unprecedented sectionalism.

I have personally witnessed major projects in Guyuk, including full electrification in several communities and the construction of classrooms in Gunda and surrounding villages. These are massive undertakings, yet Shelleng has been largely ignored. Instead, Kobis has made misleading statements about Shelleng’s contribution to his electoral victory, while continuing to neglect the area.

It is high time we put an end to this political individualism. The people of Shelleng must unite and support Alhaji Ahmadu Yoola in replacing Honorable Kobis Ari Timnu in 2027, putting an end to the unfair favoritism displayed in his political performance. Let the people of Guyuk support him next time since it is their communities that have benefited from his capital projects.

Although Kobis did distribute some bags of fertilizer to a few farmers in Shelleng, I assure you that significantly larger quantities were distributed in Guyuk. It is time for us to reflect and make a wise decision.

Let us support a candidate who will treat the people of both Shelleng and Guyuk Local Governments fairly. We have witnessed Sardaunan Kiri’s responsiveness on many occasions, and we trust he will continue to deliver even more when elected to the House of Representatives. His track record as a career civil servant speaks for itself, and we are confident that he will bring greater development to both Shelleng and Guyuk.

In the past, he has provided transformers and constructed culverts in various villages, including Kem, Kiri, and beyond. I assure you, we will not regret voting for Sardaunan Kiri over Timnu in 2027.

Let us unite behind him on any platform he chooses to contest, and together, we can put an end to political tribalism within the Shelleng/Guyuk Constituency.
