Musabaqa is a competition often carried out by Muslim Umma
to prove and test the memorizations of the Holy Qur'an by its participants. The
competition of this kind is usually organized when there is a strong sponsor
who can take the responsibilities of catering for the participants, the
instructors as well as the gifts to be presented to the winners of the
competition. The one with strong memorization usually becomes the chief winner
of the competition while second, third, fourth, and the fifth positions are
presented their gifts based on what is decided for them, depending on the arm
of the sponsor.
The competition is also carried out to encouraging the
memorizations among children as it is spurred in the teachings of Prophet
Muhammad (SWA). Qur'an is the Strongest scripture left to Muslim up-to-date and
it is prestigiously handled among these people as it is believed that there
will be a rescue for those who memorized the Holy Book at the Day of Judgement.
So the priority of all Muslim is to get their children
memerized the Holy Book of Allah. Related to this, three weeks a go there was a
musabaqa conducted in Yola north that was after it had previously conducted
within the 21 local Government in Adamawa State before the final knockouts were
conducted in Jimeta when all the local governments' first positions competed
for the final positions.
The competition was conducted in five categories: there are
ones that competed in 60 hifz, 30hifz,20hifz,10 hifz and finally 2 hifz besides
appreciating and motivating gifts were presented to position 1_5 raced on the
above categories as was designated by the program designers.
This recent Musabaqa competition was sponsored by the
Honourable Commissioner of Works and Energy, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar. His
gifts to the winners is both encouraging and motivating that has undoubtedly
underscored the memorizations of the Holy Qur'an among people of Adamawa State.
The first position of compition who happened to be a female has
been given appreciating cash, fridge and a copy of Qur'an besides, she received
many gifts from the outlookers ranging from cash to materials. There were
similar gifts and donations given to the second, third, fourth and fifth
positions ranging from materials to quite substantial amounts.
This gesture is also applicable to all people of Adamawa
State who come to him with similar propositions irrespective of their religion
and family background. He then encouraged the participants and the spectators
of the competition to abide with the knowledge they have and pray for peace and
togetherness among the good people of Adamawa State.
